Apologies for my long absence. Truth be told its because I prefer to use my MacBook instead of my PC but it doesn't have the blogging software and mobile bunnycam that I need to keep my blog up. Here I am thinking my Mac is the coolest thing ever but I've found its not for bunnyblogging. It may look better but we all know looks aren't everything. BTW, the stock sure took a dive but I'm not worried because I'm marrying myself to this one even though I know I'm breaking Cramer's cardinal rule. So happy new year and I'll check in soon as I'm more in the mood to blog lately.
This summer she went off to Hong Kong to do yoga and I went to Jessie's (thanks Jessie for taking care of me). Here are a few words from an email Jessie wrote,
"The first two days he grunted at me and didn't want me to touch him...but I sat in the room for a few hours and bribed him with butter lettuce. He eventually came around and sat with me, munching the lettuce. Also, when I go into the room in the morning to give him his fresh vegetables, he comes running at me for them, it's adorable. I love having him here. He LOVES butter lettuce, water cress, fresh apple pieces, cilantro, parsley, his trail mix, dry mango and I recently found out he likes purple cabbage leaves."
Around week 4, I was starting to get homesick. Although I had my very own room away from Jessie's 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 bunnies and a bird, it just wasn't the same as my usual carpeted floors and full floor to ceiling windows (perfect for me to look out through). I was really happy to see her when she came back. I thought I had been abandoned. When I got home I immediately went and checked out my favorite corners, tore a few sheets from the stacked phone books, hopped in and out of my big green cage and checked out my food and water. Jessie had warned her that she thought my sight was failing and she keeps putting cushions and things in the middle of the floor. Sometimes she tosses a peanut or a blueberry my way to see if I can see them. Yum, blueberries are so good right now ... I'm really happy to be home. Her teacher Patrick says, move everything home to heal. He's right about that.
Just wanted to remind all you who are thinking of bringing home a bunny this Easter, don't do it! Better would be to make it chocolate. The kind I like is Dagoba and they say "1.5 oz of dark chocolate has as much antioxidants as 5 oz. of red wine". Yum, chocolates ... red wine, tough decision but either way it's all good for you. I also like and support this company as a consumer because of their sustainability practices. So indulge in chocolate and not us, unless of course you've done your research by going to the House Rabbit Society
(bunnyblogger is linked on this site) and know all there is to know of us cuddley bunnies like ummm how we grind our teeth when we are happy and how our whiskers tickle when we give kisses.
It's a hard thing to come by ... this thing called presence. When you find it (and it may only last for a few fleeting moments at first), be in it to see things as they really are. I think presence is truth and truth is love and all is interconnected. We can learn a lot by being quiet and looking at our truth, to be really present with it and know that only this moment matters and then the next and the next. So letting go of the past and trying not to think too far ahead into the future will help bring you presents. After all, tis the season. So merry christmas, happy new year and thumpity thump thump.
P.S. 2007 is just around the corner and I wanted to thank my fellow bloggers and others who link to me. No one has ever sent me anything but nice emails so I'm convinced bunny people are all peaceful and joyous (and it's not because tis the season). We have this way with people that brings out the best in most everyone.
What the heck is turbitity? Well, its my understanding its like when all us animals get in the water and p**p in it at the same time. The end result being yukky brown water coming from our taps and warnings to boil it. It's hard to believe that our city (2nd most beautiful in the world) hasn't had clean drinking water for the past 2 weeks. It's so bad, I can't even see my paws through the water in my bath! I think we critters need to show our pearly whites (and that's not smiling) when we see loggers in our water shed. The GVRD claimed heavy rain to be the fault. I'm sure the next excuse will be all the snow that's falling. Maybe something like, falling snowmen into watersheds has increased turbitity to unacceptable levels. So be wary of brown water and yellow snow. Oh and watch out for the mischievous monkey too.
P.S. Thank you "Alice" at www.potentiallynervous.blogspot.com for telling me that I'm linked on 24 Carrot Lane where you can buy those really cool rabbit houses. Methinks I should get one!
So I'm getting in the elevator with my bag of Meadow Hay and these two characters comment to me "geez that must be worth a lot of money". I kinda looked at them strangely and said its $9.99 at Bosley's ... they looked back at me in disbelief. I don't think they realize the importance of Timothy hay for a rabbit's healthy well being. Wonder what they're smoking ;). Thanks Cuddle Pets for your yummy hay. The smell of it is wafting through the condo as I write this blog (certainly don't get that from the other stuff you can buy in pet food stores). Anyone looking to get some of Jordan's hay, go online to Cuddle Pets Supplies. I especially like buying from those who are concerned about our environment and who support humane societies. It's these types of people who make a difference ... we all can make a difference if we really want to.
Splat,
splat and smack quickly reminded me that some have good aim. It is not a pretty
‘site’ especially when it lands across the pages of the book I
was reading. But more interesting was it occurred precisely at a place where
the words read “the entire universe is your guru and at the right time
he arranges everything affectionately and effectively”. I think a guru
can show you the way, no matter their character, temperament or who they appear
to be. The only way to judge if you have found one is by how you are in their
company. If you feel more happiness, clarity or fascination then you will
know you have been sought out. It then becomes paramount to trust completely
and follow their guidance implicitly. You will have only yourself to blame
if you do so half-heartedly. Why do they do this, you ask? To end sorrow and
perhaps raise our level of consciousness. Mine might not like the reference
to guru because he dislikes anything institutional but nevertheless he is
this to me and I am grateful for his guidance and never ending patience to
ignite my creative fire. And you know what they say ... being pooped on is
warning of luck to come.
As
you hop through life, make you sure you pay attention to the moments when
things sparkle and catch your eye. Maybe it's a glimmer caught in another
bunny's light rays, a shiny piece of glass sparkling in a green meadow or
an unexpected reflection in a lake on a sunny day. Whatever it is, look closely,
take it in with all your senses and revel in it. It is in truth that great
moments occur. Let it inspire you and move you forward and let it become you
so it will be imprinted forever and ever.
When
will I learn ... I'm not supposed to discuss politics nor religion
(below I sorta refer to the "b" word and definitely the "p"
word). Well, I guess that makes me a bad bunny. Al Gore very likely has found
his reason for being. His documentary entitled "An
Inconvenient Truth" on global warming is a must see. Being the wearer
of fur, I can tell you, each summer it really does seem to get hotter and
hotter around here. Ok, maybe some of his graphs are spun a little on the
high side but what person with any skill in Excel hasn't played with the scales
for dramatic effect. I might have an aversion to that guy heading up the country
south of here and maybe Al would have done a better job but I think Al just
may be the one who helps save our planet. The issue of global warming could
potentially affect millions upon millions of people, not to mention all the
sea creatures living in our oceans or those close to the shorelines, and of
course, the bunnies.
The truth of any matter is always liberating and purifying. I believe Al Gore is speaking the truth. There doesn't seem to be any of that in the weapons document. Lies and deceit spell nothing but trouble, just look at the mess they're in now. As daunting as the issue of global warming seems, believe that you can make a difference. Some of the things that you can do right now can be found at this website. Oh, and they also say to pray and may those prayers have paws.
Look inward into the tidal pool so inviting and peaceful.
The rock black as the feathers of the eagle perched atop the tall forest tree
Provides a stunning backdrop to life found here.
It is the wild Pacific Ocean, as are we, forever bound to it.
In the stillness, our vision becomes clear
And the veils of suffering fall away.
The infinite universe reveals her beautiful self.
And what we thought to be emptiness
Becomes a continuum, a moment of bliss and then another.
An empty shell makes a home for the introspective hermit crab.
All we need is to be still and wait for the tide to come in.
Up in Whistler, you hear about us snow bunnies ;). To make sure you don't
miss us, I took a picture for you.
She
laid a fresh blanket of pure whiteness over Green Lake this morning.
I marveled at the view before me and as I sat there I too felt enveloped by
her warmth and comfort. The mixture of air so clean (unlike the city), glimpses
of heaven beyond the clouds and the sound of falling snow off trees was exhiliarating.
I wonder ... can we see our soul through the eyes of nature. Speaking of which,
I decided to retreat after being spotted by an eagle. I was starting to shiver
anyways and my paws were getting chilled so home I went. But the beauty of
this morning is forever etched in my little bunny brain. I will come back
to this place as I have not had my fill yet.
Connecting
to each other in different languages is something I hadn't really considered
until I ran across this ... a young girl (maybe 12) linked to me ...
the only thing is I have no idea what she's saying. Javier, who speaks Spanish,
says she's just talking about bunnies. Others have linked to me (thank you
to all who have) but I think it's "tres" (that's the extent of my
French) cool for this girl who blogs in Spanish to include my link. Come to
think of it, us English bunnies (actually I'm a Holland mini lop - close enough)
can speak to one another in the same language and we still don't get each
other. So finding ways to connect to people other than with just words is
possibly something we need to explore more of. A smile is universal as is
shining that inner light that burns in each of us. Look inwards if yours isn't
showing, it's there.
It's
good to know what's behind doors. Bunnies are naturally curious creatures
so any closed door is an excuse to scratch, dig or bite our way through. We
are quite resourceful (as you can see me pictured here) when it comes to opening
or closing doors. 2005 seemed to be a lot about doors. The dream our healer
had where she pushed her through, the vision she had in yoga class one day
where there was light behind a familiar door. For me, I worked on opening
the door to my heart. When people come to visit I now run out to say hello
and if they give me a petzel, well ... I'm their friend for life. I hang out
in the middle of the condo so I can see all around me rather than hide in
a corner somewhere and I even let Jack's mom pick me up for a cuddle. Things
seem to come to you when your heart is open. I think 2006 is going to be the
year that I fully open the door to my heart so I can look to see what's behind
it. And as I create this opening things will surely shine out into bunnyblogger.com.
Happy new year to all my readers and fellow bloggers out there.
Have
you seen the bunny commericals on tv lately? If not, you gotta check them
out http://www.telusmobility.com/coolstuff/advertising.shtml.
I guarantee you they will make you smile.
Hey TELUS, how come you never put any down-eared rabbits in your ads? I'd love to be in one of your commericals. I show up good on a white background.
Today she was stopped on the street by Joseph as he handed her one of those daily 0¢ mini newspapers. He told her, with the biggest smile on his face that one can imagine, the secret to everlasting youth is to love what you do. He said he was 76 years old. She told him he didn't look a day over 55 which made him smile even bigger.
"A
life unencumbered by shoes" was something Velcrow Ripper said
in his documentary entitled Scared Sacred. It's haunting, it's uplifting,
its by far one of the most powerful documentaries I've seen in a long time.
Thanks Mark.
To get back to the shoes though, we bunnies pride ourselves on our lucky feet. Are we simply lucky or are we willing or manifesting everything in our lives? I consciously try to live in a state of sanctity. It's where I have found meaning, a connection to something bigger than just little ole me and where I I look for inspiration and hope. Films like Scared Sacred show how pervasive this thing called hope is.
Let
the fragrance of the lotus blossom
Permeate the spirit of all who witness it
Let it drip its sweet nectar in our sacred space
And fill it with the universal emotion of love
According
to Richard Reynolds, "A bunny hopping around has a calming effect on just about
everyone; save perhaps, Elmer Fudd."
It
was a warm summer's eve and I was happy to see that the bunnies of Jericho
are winning! They were everywhere, hopping about as they fed on the
long grasses beside the ultimate (frisbee) fields. Unlike me, they're instincts
are on high alert so they stay close to the bushes so they can make a quick
escape from off leash, overzealous dogs or coyotes. But like me, we can garner
squeals of delight from humans when our big ears perk up or we play and leap
about. It's a conscious choice one makes to be happy, you know. You can be
on the bottom of the food chain and still have the power to spread joy.
A
lot of things happen at the beach ... she's taken a month off from
work this summer and plans on spending many lazy days hangin out at Spanish
Banks. It is a place that she seems to be drawn to, maybe reminders of her
past and inspirations for her future are found here. I think we are closer
to the universe when we stand with our paws in the sand and look out and beyond
the tides of change. Someone once told her the tidal flats are soft landing
pads for those who travel through space. Hmm, I guess anything is possible
and we're only limited by our imaginations. The beach is the perfect place
to be mindful and to be aware of who we are and what we are meant to do. We
have all the answers, and because bunnies were given this thing called intellect,
I believe it's our responsibility to positively affect the people we come
into contact with whether it's in the brier patch or perhaps even something
bigger than that.
This
is Marshmallow. He told me he is one of four house bunnies living in
Lancaster, PA. He said they too get to run free but not at the same time.
He said the the girls are a little aggressive and territorial (not surprising
;) and they play, binkie and cuddle. Binkie, apparently, is what I do ...
I just didn't know it had an official name. If you check out games
i like to play in about me you'll see what Marshmallow refers to as a
binkie.
He said they sit around and watch the box with moving lights. This summer I saw What the Bleep Do We Know!? He had too and said if I liked that I'd probably like I Heart Huckabees. The bleep created some lively conversations in our house and with others in our circle. Thanks for your email Marshmallow.
There
is something about music ...
I think we all have a sound track playing as we hop along our journeys of life. The music I've loaded onto my new mini iPod (green like grass is the colour I chose) is magical and has a beat that comes from times that some might consider to be ancient. Its inspiring and invigorating, yet calming and soothing. Fusion of music can be interesting as I think it connects us to different times and places to teach us about things we innately know.
